THE ROAD TO STURGIS

Every year, it causes a brain surgeon from the East Coast to grow out his hair, pack a duffel bag full of t-shirts and ride across the country on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. It’s the reason a mother of three owns a black leather bikini complete with metal studs. And if anyone wonders why a billionaire would prefer to stay in a campground when he could buy a hotel, there’s a simple explanation.

It’s called Sturgis.

For one steamy week in August, people from all over the nation and around the world turn this small town into one of the most notorious parties on earth. The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is located in the breathtaking Black Hills of South Dakota, where scenic highways take riders to national treasures like Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park and Crazy Horse Memorial.

But for this road trip, even the beautiful scenery takes a backseat (or in this case, a sidecar) to the Sturgis Rally itself. This is a nearly unexplainable experience that brings unending streams of Harley-Davidson® motorcycles across the state of South Dakota on Interstate 90 for days on end, thousands of riders heeding the Call of the Wild.

And located directly off I-90 and I-29, about 6 hours east of Sturgis, J&L Harley-Davidson of Sioux Falls serves as one of Sturgis’s biggest welcoming committees. You’ll find a full-service dealership complete with concessions, a huge park area, music, plenty of shade and an entire roster of service technicians who put their lives on hold so that our Sturgis-bound brothers and sisters get to the party on time. J&L Harley-Davidson isn’t just a stop on the road to Sturgis. We’re a destination all our own. We’re ready for August, 2010. And we’re waiting for you.
